In this article I’m going to show you the two best cryptocurrency exchanges you can use to buy your coins. I’ll also show you one which you should seriously avoid, as well as a few others which you might have a use for.
It is important to note that I have personally tried each and every one of these. This article isn’t simply me searching for which ones are out there and blindly suggesting ones to you, I’ll only recommend them to you if they’re actually a good place to trade tokens. I’ll also be updating this guide as I try more exchanges out and as each exchange changes.
I will go into detail of all of the exchanges below, but if you’re in a rush, here’s a chart comparing the best at a glance:
# | Exchange: | Logo: | Best For: | Reliable? | Rating: | Join Now: |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Binance | Best overall. The majority of alt coin trading. | Yes. | 10/10 | Join Binance | |
2 | Kucoin | Trading alt coins not on Binance | Yes. | 8.5/10 | Join Kucoin |
Okay, so want more details? Here they are. 🙂

The Best Cryptocurrency Exchanges For Trading Alt Coins
While there are many big coin and crypto currency exchanges out there, out of all of the ones I have used (which is a decent and growing amount), here are the two I would recommend you using.
1. Binance
Binance is by far my favorite exchange for buying and exchanging cryptocurrencies. It has all the main features you will need from any exchange, whether you’re a beginner trader, or you need more advanced tools such as Trend Lines, Regression lines, Indicators, Fibonacci Lines and more.
It caters to both beginners and experienced traders by letting them pick either their ‘Basic Exchange’, or ‘Advanced Exchange’. You can find the above mentioned tools in the Advanced Exchange.
One big selling point about Binance is that it has a huge selection of coins available to buy. In fact, it probably has more alt coins to buy than any other exchange on this list, meaning you could use it as a ‘one-stop-shop’ for buying all your coins if you wanted. If you are only looking for the top coins in terms of market capitalization, this may not be one of the biggest selling points ever. But if you are interested in getting into some of the medium-sized or small value coins, which can still be very profitable by the way using the right strategy, then you will love this exchange.
Another strong point of Binance is how liquid it is. By liquid I mean how much money is in there and how easy it is to place a trade. With some of the smaller exchanges there aren’t many people placing trades for particular coins. When this happens it becomes harder to get good odds, as well as harder to find someone that will actually exchange coins with you. So you may place a buy order for a currency, then realize a good while later that the coin you wanted still hasn’t been bought.
With trades on the Binance exchange however, at least with the ones where you use the industry standard trading currency Bitcoin, your buy orders usually go through instantly. This is especially true when you use their ‘Market’ tab in their basic exchange, which basically says you want to buy a set amount of coins priced at the current market price.
Regarding depositing and withdrawing your money, I have done both multiple times without any issue. Withdrawing especially is always something to be wary about when joining a new exchange, but I have moved my money both to physical wallets and other exchanges without any issue. The sell order from Binance is put through right away (unlike many other exchanges) and from there you simply need to wait on the usual delivery time of each individual coin. With the fast coins, your funds will literally be in your wallet within less than a minute.

Withdrawn Money Successfully: Yes.
Recommended: 100% yes.
Best For: Buying the majority of your coins.
Pro Tip: Binance have their own coin which can be bought and used to save you money on fees. These savings only happen for the first four years after they were released, and will save you between 50% and 6.25% depending on when they are used.
A List Of Tools They Have For Advanced Traders: Trend Line. Regression Line. Periodic Line. Percent Line. Parallel Rays. Down Arrow. Clean. Support Pressure Line. Rectangle. Fibonacci Line. Band Line. Up Arrow. Delete Selection. This top exchange also has a number of Indicators such as StochRSI, MACD, KDJ and more.
2. Kucoin
Kucoin is another top exchange that I recommend you using. The thing is, no matter how good one exchanges, you still won’t likely be able to get all of the coins you want on there. And while Binance is the top dog when it comes to exchanges, there are still some other coins out there which they don’t list.
That’s where Kucoin comes in.
Kucoin has some excellent coins on their which aren’t available in many other places, or at least not in any reputable or highly liquid ones. For this reason alone it is worth joining them, but there’s more.
If you have learnt how to use Binance you will be able to use this with no problem. Like Binance it is highly liquid, although they do have less coins on offer. That doesn’t matter though because you will be buying most of your coins on Binance. You will use Kucoin to pick up the rare gems that Binance hasn’t got.
I’ve also done multiple withdrawals from Kucoin and can tell you that they have always gone through. At the time of writing this, ERC-20 coins take that bit longer to withdraw from the exchange due to a congested network (sometimes a few hours). That said, my money has always come through to my hard wallets, making them very reliable.

Best For: buying good coins which can’t be found on Binance. Diversifying your money on different exchanges.
A List Of Tools They Have For Advanced Traders: Indicators such as Aroon, Balance Of Power, Chaikin Monme Flow, Chaikin Oscillator, Money Flow, many different styles of Chart Properties and more.
So there you have it, the two best exchanges out there. The only issue with exchanges however is that you can only exchange crypto currencies on there. If you haven’t yet got any crypto currency and want to buy some with fiat money (as in USD, GBP or EUR etc) you will need to use a different kind of website.
The Best Place To Buy Bitcoin With Fiat Money (GBP, USD, EUR Etc)
If you’re also looking for a place to exchange your fiat money with crypto currencies (usually initially Bitcoin), the websites in this section are for you.
The process is simple:
Fiat money > Buy Bitcoin using one of the below sites > Move your Bitcoin over to one of the above exchanges (Binance or Kucoin) and buy alt coins.
Here are the best exchanges to buy Bitcoin.
1. Blockchain.info / Coinify
Blockchain.info is actually a digital wallet used for storing Bitcoin and a select few other currencies. That said, they are partnered with Coinify, a platform which you can buy Bitcoin from. As Coinify is integrated within Blockchain.info, you simply need to sign up there and you can buy Bitcoin directly.
This is a great and very reliable website for people who want to buy small to medium amounts of Bitcoin. After the verification process, which you need to go through on nearly every centralized exchange where you use fiat money to buy coins, you will go through a review period where you are limited to buying up to £800 of Bitcoin at a time. After you have bought over £1000 worth, there is a one off 14 day waiting period before you can buy up to £8000 worth of Bitcoin at a time.
While this process is slow at first, once you’re fully approved and have gone through their milestones it is very reliable.
Tried: Yes.
Withdrawn Money Successfully: Yes.
Recommended: Yes.
Best For: Reliably putting fiat money in exchanges.
Worth Noting: Initial approval process can take a while, and extra time is needed before you can deposit larger amount of money.
Bad points: Can never deposit more than £8000 worth of Bitcoin at a time. Also withdrawal fees can be quite high sometimes at the time of writing this.
2. Kraken
Okay I’ll admit, I have a love hate relationship with Kraken (which is the only reason it didn’t get ranked top in this category despite some good features). On the one hand they allow you to deposit large amounts of fiat money with them, making it one of the easiest ways to get money in to buy crypto currencies. On the other hand though, at the time of writing this, they have been plagued with website issues.
Although they seem to have sorted out the majority of these and the website is now generally running smoothly, previously they’ve suffered a lot of downtime. To the point where it’s almost an unusable website for trading.
I’ve still used it for depositing money however, but as soon as my Bitcoin has been bought I’ve always traded it out to Binance or whichever exchange I was looking to buy tokens on.
As mentioned they seem to currently be more reliable, so I will come back in future and give a proper overview of whether or not they are still worth using.
Tried: Yes.
Withdrawn Money Successfully: Yes.
Recommended: Yes.
Best For: Depositing larger sums of fiat money.
Bad points: Website sometimes unstable with downtime, so difficult to use.
